How long does it take to service a car?
Typically, a master service (or full service) will take around 3 – 4 hours to complete. A short (interim) service is often half the time – usually around an hour and a half. However, it’s important to note that the length of the service being conducted on your vehicle will often depend on whether or not any problems are identified.
Here at Formula One Autocentres, there are two types of car service available:
- Short service – also known as an interim service, this type of service should be conducted every 6 months, or every 6,000 miles – whichever is sooner.
- Master service – also known as a full service, this type of service should be conducted every 12 months, or every 12,000 miles – whichever is sooner.
Not sure which type of service you need? Whether it’s a short service or a master service, find out what service your car needs from our helpful blog.
How long does an MOT and service take?
While a master service (or full service) will usually take around 3 hours to complete, an MOT test is usually a lot shorter – taking only around 45 minutes - 1 hour to complete. If you were to have your MOT and service at the same time, which is often recommended, this should take approximately 4 hours in total. Find out more information on how long an MOT test takes.
