What is a car chassis?

A car chassis is otherwise known as the frame, although the chassis specifically refers to the load-bearing part of the car’s frame. The chassis provides the vehicle with the structural stability needed to make the car strong.  

What does a car chassis include?

The chassis refers to the horizontal section of the car that supports and connects all the important components in your car. It includes; 

• Wheels: Your wheels are what moves your car, as it converts power from the engine into motion. Your wheels need regular maintenance and alignment to ensure proper vehicle handling.  
• Wheel carrier: The component that holds your wheel in place. 
• Wheel bearing: The bearing that holds your wheel to the axle and allows it to spin.

How does a chassis work?

The main function of your chassis is to distribute dynamic and static loads through the car’s framework. Essentially ensuring that the forces generated during acceleration, braking and cornering are transmitted to the suspension system. The aim of this is to enhance stability, handling and safety.
