Car Servicing Information
Most car owners service their car every year or 12,000 miles - whichever comes sooner. There are many benefits to servicing that are often overlooked - servicing proactively maintains your car, reducing the risk of a breakdown, extend the life your car and can improve your vehicle’s fuel efficiency. Even if you don’t have your vehicle serviced regularly, servicing can help maintain your car's value.
A small investment in routine servicing, plus a good inspection programme results in good return on that investment because of:
- Reduced cost of repairs over the vehicle's life
- Reduced unforeseen and possible breakdown risks
- Reduced vehicle time off the road
- Less inconvenience and less unforeseen expense
- The possibility of greater fuel economy
- The possibility of increased product life e.g. tyres last longer, brake disks do not become scored and in need of replacement
Car Servicing FAQs
-
How much is a car service?
There are two types of car service offered by Formula One Autocentres – Interim and Full. The full service has a longer list of comprehensive checks and is therefore more expensive. The cost of your service will also depend on your engine size – those with smaller engines will incur smaller costs.

-
How long does a car service take?
If your car has no significant issues, a full service with F1 Autocentres takes approximately 3 hours. An interim car service is shorter than this. Provided your car is in good health, it is unlikely you’ll be without your car for longer than a day.
-
How often should you service our car?
It is recommended that a full car service be completed every 12,000 miles that your vehicle does, or every 12 months – whichever is sooner. An Interim service, however, should be completed every 6,000 or 6 months.
-
What does a car service include?
What’s included in your car service depends on whether you opt for an interim or full car service. The full car service has a longer list of checks – some of these include a road test and scheduled service tasks.

-
How do I check my car’s service history?
There are two routes you can pursue to check your car service history: your garage and your manufacturer:
- If you know which garage your car was serviced in, chances are they’ll have your history computerised.
- By providing your manufacturer with your VIN number (often located on the car’s door frame or in the engine compartment), they should be able to locate your service history.
